Addiction related to suboxone
« on: December 30, 2019, 04:08:17 AM »
Hi,

I may be asking my doctor to prescribe bupenorphine for treatment-resistant depression (TRD). I get the impression that there is a low risk of dependence for this drug in patients who are using it for TRD, and who do not ahve a long history of opioid use . I know that Patients who abruptly stop opiods can experience side effects ( complain of fatigue, upset stomach, and sometimes other issues) . This pallid imitation of narcotic withdrawal is generally not associated with craving, and indeed patients do not usually, associate their symptoms with having stopped a drug such as vicodin until they experience the relief occasioned by restarting their treatment. But thats not really part of my problem

Thanks very much guys.

Just quick comment here- I stoped Suboxone at 4mg and got sick as a dog, much worst that hydro /  oxycontin. I called my doctor and he told me it may be 2 weeks before I feel better. OR come back in and start out again on 2mg and taper off. I just didn't want to be addicted to anything again so I'm trying to get through it in other ways. Hot /cold baths and meditation is the best. No motivation needed...

I haven't tried that yet but I find this very insightful. It is really important that we make sure that we intake the right dosage.

Hang in there, it's not easy but you'll look back at what you've accomplished with a sense of pride. Also, try to fill your day with music that you love played at "eleven." Your family and neighbors might complain but they'll get over it.
